In 1990, James Freid  was driving  an ice cream truck to pay for a study abroad trip to Papua New Guinea. His stories about the trip are legendary…just ask him.  He was so impressive that Blue Bell Ice Cream hired James as a manager when he returned. In 1997, at the age of 20-something, when the opportunity arose, he purchased the street vending business from Blue Bell Ice Cream.

He changed the name to Big Bell Ice Cream.  And the rest is history.    James is now the CEO (Chief Eating Officer.  After all, someone has to test the new products) of Big Bell Ice Cream.
